This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of Your information when You use the Laki Service and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You.

We use Your Personal data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Interpretation

The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

  • Account means a unique account created for You to access our Service or parts of our Service.
  • Company (referred to as either "the Company", "We", "Us" or "Our" in this Agreement) refers to Laki.
  • Device means any device that can access the Service such as a computer, a cellphone or a digital tablet.

  • Service refers to the Laki mobile application.
  • Service Provider means any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of the Company.
  • Usage Data refers to data collected automatically, either generated by the use of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself.

While using Our Service, We may ask You to provide Us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify You. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:

Photos & Voice Recordings

Photos: When you use our nutrition camera or beauty analyzer features, your images are processed to provide analysis. In limited testing and quality-improvement contexts, we may retain photos for a short duration for app and service enhancement, after which they are permanently deleted. Outside of these testing contexts, photos are not retained beyond the time needed to perform the requested analysis. Voice Recordings: Voice inputs are transcribed and the audio is permanently deleted from our systems immediately after processing.

Usage Data

Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service. Usage Data may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), device type, operating system, the features of our Service that You use, the time and date of Your usage, the time spent using features, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

Use of Your Personal Data

The Company may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain our Service, including to monitor the usage of our Service.
  • To provide AI-powered features, we use OpenAI's API to process certain user inputs. When you interact with AI features, the text you provide is securely transmitted to OpenAI's servers for processing. OpenAI may store and use this data to improve their services, in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Enterprise Privacy terms.
  • To manage Your Account: to manage Your registration as a user of the Service.
  • To provide personalized AI coaching: for health, nutrition, and wellness recommendations.
  • To analyze content: provide nutrition analysis of food photos and beauty recommendations. In testing contexts, photos may be retained for a short duration to enhance the app and services, then permanently deleted; otherwise photos are not retained beyond the analysis.
  • To contact You: regarding updates, security notices, or support.
  • To improve your AI model for better experience: to enhance the personalization and accuracy of recommendations.
  • To provide customer support and technical assistance.

Data Sharing & Third Parties

Our Privacy Commitment

We do NOT share your personal data with third parties. Your information stays private and secure with Laki.

Limited Technical Integrations

The only external services we use are:

  • Google Sign-In (SSO): When you choose to sign in with Google, we only receive basic profile information (name, email). This is optional - you can create an account with just email.
  • OpenAI Voice Transcription: Voice messages are sent to OpenAI for transcription only. The audio is immediately deleted after transcription - we never store voice recordings.

We DO NOT:

  • Share your personal data with analytics companies
  • Sell your information to advertisers or third parties
  • Share with social media platforms
  • Send your data to marketing companies
  • Store or share your voice recordings (photos are stored as described in our privacy policy)
  • Use tracking pixels or data brokers
  • Share your health information with anyone

Legal Disclosure Only

We may only disclose your information if:

  • Required by law or court order
  • To protect our legal rights or prevent fraud
  • In case of business transfer (with prior notice to you)
  • With your explicit written consent

Retention of Your Personal Data

The Company will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use Your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

Specific Retention Periods:

  • Account data: Until account deletion
  • Health data: Until you request deletion
  • Chat conversations: Stored for conversation continuity
  • Photos: Retained only for a short duration in testing contexts for app and service enhancement and then permanently deleted; otherwise processed and not retained beyond the analysis
  • Voice recordings: Immediately deleted after analysis
  • Usage data: Generally retained for shorter periods for security and improvement purposes

Local Images & Backups

Images stored locally on your device are under your control and responsibility. We do not back up or retain copies of images that remain on your device. If a locally stored image is deleted from your device (by you or by your device's operating system), we cannot restore it.

Your Data Protection Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: View and edit your personal information
  • Delete all your data: Request complete deletion of your account and associated data
  • Control: Manage notification preferences and feature permissions

Security of Your Personal Data

The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect Your Personal Data, We cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Our Security Measures Include:

  • HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data transmission
  • Secure password hashing and storage
  • Immediate deletion of voice recordings; short-duration retention of testing photos only
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
  • Limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis

Children's Privacy

Our Service is intended for users aged 17 and above. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 17. If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 17 without verification of parental consent, We take steps to remove that information from Our servers.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.

We will let You know via email and/or a prominent notice on Our Service, prior to the change becoming effective. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
